Driver / Group Classifications: For all HPDE events, drivers are assigned to a category based on experience.
* Depending on group size and track, not all events will follow these exact guidelines. See the specific event information or registration form for details on groups available at that event.
Beginner / Novice: These are our entry/mid level classes for first-time drivers and all drivers wanting expert instruction to help grow their skills. An expert instructor is assigned for the entire event to ride along and provide in-car coaching and guidance. Drivers that have experience in other forms of motorsports such as autocross will learn quickly, but without prior HPDE experience will still be classified as novice. More experienced Novice drivers may have the opportunity to be signed off solo during the event. This is at the discretion of their personal instructor, the chief instructor, and event management.
Advanced (Solo): This is our solo group for drivers that have considerable HPDE experience, and have received substantial instruction. All advanced drivers are expected to show a complete knowledge of track etiquette and safety procedures and have typically completed 10 or more HPDE events in the last 3 years. All registrations for this class will be verified for past experience to ensure qualification. Please contact us with any questions if you are unsure of your status for this class.
Instructor: This class is reserved for our expert instructors and occasionally for drivers with very high levels of experience. As with the advanced group, Instructors typically have very limited passing restrictions. Contact our Chief Instructor if you are interested in becoming an Instructor with Autosport Events.
